Mubasher: Bahrain Islamic Bank confirmed reports about its intention to sell assets worth $218 million, according to a bourse filing released on Tuesday.
The bank’s confirmation comes as the Bahrain Bourse asked for further information about a statement by the bank’s CEO, Hassan Jarrar, to Al-Arabiya television saying that the bank plans to sell assets worth BHD 82 million ($218 million) to support its five-year growth plan and boost the liquidity.
Jarrar earlier told Bloomberg that the bank sold assets worth BHD 14 million since the beginning of 2016, and plans to sell the same amount in the second half of the year.
