Mubasher: Jazeera Airways has offered 50,000 complimentary round-trip tickets to frontline heroes in Kuwait as a reward for their efforts against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and at an estimated value of KWD 5 million.
The initiative cements the airline’s pledge to support the Kuwaiti government’s efforts in its fight against the new virus, according to a press release on Tuesday.
Earlier, the airline placed its assets and human capital at the disposal of the government, participated in evacuating Kuwaitis stranded abroad, and converted its Park and Fly facility at Kuwait International Airport into a drive-through coronavirus testing centre.
Commenting on the initiative, Jazeera Airways’ chairman, Marwan Boodai, said: “The fifty thousand free tickets will be redeemable to any destination served by our airline’s network. The tickets will be distributed to frontline individuals as directed by our esteemed government.”
Regarding the resumption of commercial flights, Jazeera Airways affirmed its full readiness to launch passenger flights as soon as the Kuwait airport re-opens.
It is noteworthy that the Kuwait airline operated more than 60 flights and brought home over 6,800 Kuwaiti citizens stuck overseas as part of the GCC state’s grand repatriation plan.
