Mubasher: Qatar Navigation (Milaha) announced that it has deployed its “Milaha Explorer” lifeboat off the West Africa coast as part of its long-term agreement with a major international oil company.
Milaha Explorer is deemed the largest of its kind to be owned by a Qatari firm with an ability to accommodate 300 persons onboard, according to the company’s statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) late on Tuesday.
“Over the past few months, we have been significantly ramping up our operations, and I am pleased to announce further growth in our geographic footprint and operational portfolio with this long-term deployment, which marks our entry into Africa,” Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai, Milaha’s president and CEO, commented.
The Qatar-based maritime and logistics conglomerate noted that it received the vessel in 2016 to join the group’s marine offshore fleet.
It is worth noting that Milaha’s offshore fleet includes over 47 anchors handling towing vessels, platform support vessels, dive and construction support vessels, and other vessel types supporting the offshore oil and gas industry.
Milaha’s overall fleet consists of more than 90 vessels, which also include oil tankers, LNG carriers, and container vessels among others.
By 09:30 Qatar time, Milaha’s stock inched up 0.05% at QAR 64.92.
