Egypt Today: The trade exchange between Egypt and Kuwait reached approximately $3 billion in 2023, according to a statement from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
Key traded commodities include cables, display screens, food products, fresh vegetables and fruits, oil, and petroleum products.
Kuwaiti investments in Egypt currently amount to $4.5 billion, covering a wide range of sectors such as finance, industry, construction, tourism, services, agriculture, telecommunications, and information technology.
These figures were highlighted during Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib’s visit to Kuwait, where he is participating in the first session of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Joint Trade and Industry Committee. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry.
The committee's agenda includes a ministerial-level meeting, preceded by discussions among experts and technical teams from both sides.
Minister El-Khatib is also scheduled to meet with Kuwait’s Ministers of Finance, Commerce, and Industry, participate in the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Business Council meeting, and engage in bilateral discussions with Kuwaiti investors. Additionally, he will hold meetings with representatives from ten major Kuwaiti investment groups.
The visit aims to showcase Egypt’s investment landscape and the government’s policies in finance, trade, and economic reforms, which are designed to attract foreign investors and facilitate trade expansion.
The broader goal is to deepen economic cooperation, encourage Kuwaiti investments, and enhance bilateral trade between the two countries.
