Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) continued its rise after one and a half hours of trading on Wednesday, passing the level of 4,600 points on the back of positive performance in the real estate and energy sectors.
The general index grew 0.40% or 18.33 points to 4,602.03 points. Turnover reached AED 230.24 million as 197.233 million shares changed hands, backed by trading on Eshraq and Aldar, which traded for AED 88.7 million and AED 81.5 million, respectively.
The real estate sector surged 3.29% as Eshraq and Aldar rose 4.94% and 3.23%, respectively. The energy sector increased 3.10% backed by Dana Gas which leaped 4.55%. The telecom sector and its stock Etisalat added 0.44%.
On the other hand, the banking sector edged down 0.03% as the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) shed 0.4%.
Analysts told Mubasher that UAE markets will likely extend the weak performance seen on Tuesday amid a lack of liquidity and positive catalysts.
