Riyadh – Mubasher: Basic Chemical Industries Company (BCI) said that 55% of the chlorine production project in Jubail Industrial City has been completed, according to a stock exchange statement on Monday.
Last year, BCI signed a letter of intent with Nasser Saeed Al Hajri and Partners Contracting Company as a general contractor for the project.
The project’s expected completion date has been postponed to June 2021, due to major delays in finishing technical and engineering details, and constructions because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Last November, BCI said the project’s cost has increased from a previously-estimated SAR 520 million to SAR 685 million.
The project will have a production capacity of 70,000 tonnes per year.
