Manama – Mubasher: Bank of Khartoum is expected to start operating in UAE during the first quarter of 2017, the bank’s CEO, Fadi Al Faqih, said.
On the sidelines of the World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC) 2016 in Bahrain, Al Faqih told Mubasher that operating in UAE is the second expansion by the bank overseas and in the GCC.
Bank of Khartoum earlier got a license to operate in Bahrain under the name of Bank of Khartoum-International (BOK-I).
Al Faqih revealed that the bank got an approval from the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates to open a branch in Abu Dhabi.
“Opening a branch in the UAE is a part of the bank’s plans to take advantage of the good economic ties between Sudan and the GCC countries, as well as serving the Sudanese community in the region,” Al Faqih said.
The CEO also pointed that the bank is planning to open 15 new branches in Sudan, raising the number of branches to 130 across the country.
