Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) offered treasury bills (T-bills) and bonds (T-bonds) at a combined value of EGP 143 billion through six tranches on Sunday and Monday, 14 and 15 July 2024.
The CBE auctioned T-bills totalling EGP 75 billion on the 14th with the first issue amounting to EGP 35 billion and holding a 182-day tenor until 14 January 2025, while the second offering stood at EGP 40 billion and will mature in 364 days on 15 July 2025.
The central bank also issued T-bonds worth EGP 6 billion through one offering that holds a three-year maturity period until 2 July 2027. The bonds have a coupon rate of 23.85% on an annual basis.
Meanwhile on 15 July, the CBE auctioned EGP 60 billion worth of T-bills over two offerings of EGP 40 billion with 91 days tenor until 15 October 2024 and EGP 20 billion with 273-day tenor until 15 April 2025.
Moreover, the financial regulator issued T-bonds over one tranche worth EGP 2 billion on Monday. The debt instruments have a 24.70% coupon rate on an annual basis and will mature in two years on 2 July 2026.
