Cairo - Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) auctioned treasury bills (T-bills) at an aggregated value of EGP 60 billion through two tranches on Monday, 8 January 2024.
The first offering was valued at EGP 40 billion, holding a 91-day tenor until 9 April next year, according to official data.
Meanwhile, the second tranche stood at EGP 20 billion and will mature in 273 days on 8 October 2024.
The CBE also announced floating-rate T-bonds worth EGP 500 million through one tranche. The issue carries a five-year maturity period until 9 January 2029.
On 4 January, the financial authority issued T-bills at a combined value of EGP 65 billion through two offerings.
Earlier this week, the central bank as well as the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) halted their business on the occasion of the Coptic Christmas Day.
