DP World on cusp of completing 1st phase of its logistics zone at Sokhna Port

Egypt Today: DP World has made significant progress on its logistics zone at Sokhna Port, with 65% of the first phase now finished.

The $80 million project, located 10 kilometers from the port in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, is set to enhance Egypt’s logistics network, streamline operations, and reduce costs for businesses.

Covering an area of over 300,000 square meters, the logistics hub will provide integrated supply chain solutions and cater to key industries such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, retail, automotive, and textiles.

The facility will feature customs and non-customs warehouses, administrative offices, and open storage spaces for goods and containers.

The zone is set to streamline shipping and logistics operations by offering essential services, including storage, customs clearance, and shipping, as well as value-added processes like labeling, sorting, packing, and inspection.

Our focus is now on finalizing the first phase in the coming months, said Ranjit Rai, Senior Vice President for Economic Zones in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at DP World.

Once operational, the logistics zone will facilitate imports, exports, and transit trade while integrating with DP World’s existing operations at Sokhna Port. The company, which took over Sokhna Port Development Company in 2008, aims to leverage its global trade network to offer cost-efficient supply chain solutions.

The project has already attracted international interest, with companies from Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) exploring regional expansion opportunities through the new logistics hub.
