Dubai – Mubasher: Passavant Energy and Environment Limited, a subsidiary of Drake & Scull International (DSI), won a new project to design and build an expanded wastewater treatment plant in Saudi Arabia.
The unit was awarded the project in cooperation with one of the major contracting companies in Saudi Arabia for a wastewater treatment plant in Al Khobar, according to a press release.
The project's main contract value stands at SAR 789 million ($215 million), while the subcontract value of Passavant is $48 million.
In line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the joint project includes building an advanced wastewater treatment plant with a daily capacity of 200,000 cubic meters. This aims to enhance the existing infrastructure and boost sustainability efforts in the Eastern Province.
The project includes an integrated wastewater treatment plant, a terminal pumping station, heavy waste treatment tanks, effluent treatment units, water distribution pipelines, and an odor control system.
Meanwhile, the National Water and Wastewater Company allocated SAR 102.90 billion to implement 1,294 water and wastewater projects, leading efforts to ensure access to clean water and promote environmental sustainability throughout the Kingdom.
The shareholders of DSI recently greenlighted a restructuring plan for four entities as well as a capital hike of AED 600 million to AED 3.47 billion.
