EGP steadies against USD in early trades

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian pound (EGP) steadied against the US dollar (USD) in early trades at Egypt-based banks, shrugging off news reports on the latest terror attacks.

A bomb blast at the Coptic Cathedral in Cairo on Sunday left 25 were and tens wounded, while 6 policemen were killed in another attack on Friday.

The highest rate for bids stood at EGP 18.1 per dollar at Piraeus Bank, while Piraeus Bank, HSBC, and Crédit Agricole offered the highest rate for asks at EGP 18.5 per dollar.

The EGP-USD pair was traded at 17.95 for purchase and 18.2-4 for sale at the National Bank of Egypt, CIB, Banque du Caire, Arab African International Bank, and Housing & Development Bank.

The average exchange rate set by the Central Bank of Egypt on 8 December was EGP 18.33 for sale and EGP 17.94 for buying.
