Egypt Today: Egypt’s exports of gold, jewelry, and precious stones recorded a significant leap, reaching $6.76 billion in the first ten months of 2025—up from $2.63 billion last year. This 157% jump marks one of the strongest performances the sector has ever achieved.
Ehab Wassef, Chairman of the Gold and Precious Metals Division at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, projects that total exports will surpass $7.05 billion by the end of the year, setting the highest export record in the history of Egypt’s gold and jewelry industry.
Wassef attributed this exceptional performance to a comprehensive export development strategy adopted by the Division. The plan includes detailed analysis of target markets, aligning production with the preferences of international buyers, expanding the sector’s global footprint through participation in major international exhibitions, and strengthening commercial ties across Asia, Europe, and the Arab world.
He added that efforts are underway to elevate the quality of Egyptian products to global standards, increase investment in R&D for jewelry design and manufacturing, and secure financial support for small and medium enterprises. Establishing specialized training centers to uplift local workforce skills also forms a key part of strengthening the industry’s competitiveness.
Wassef stressed the importance of streamlining logistics, cutting bureaucracy, and improving export procedures as essential pillars of long-term growth.
The Division aims to maintain at least 15% annual growth in gold jewelry exports through 2030, with the goal of positioning Egypt as a regional hub for gold manufacturing and capitalizing on current export momentum.
He also highlighted plans to shift the sector more toward exporting finished jewelry products rather than raw materials, supported by international marketing initiatives to promote Egyptian craftsmanship worldwide.
Wassef emphasized that Egyptian jewelry today matches global quality standards and reflects an industry that has made major advances in recent years.
