Egypt Today: The Canal Shipping Agencies Company has entered into a cooperation agreement with Trust for Trade and Transport to establish a joint venture dedicated to managing and operating specialized commercial vessels. The new entity will introduce a dedicated maritime route linking Egyptian ports with ports in East African countries, aimed at facilitating the transport of live livestock and Egyptian exports.
According to Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, the joint venture will oversee vessel management while delivering comprehensive logistics services for specialized ships and their associated operations. Its scope will cover shipping agency services, customs clearance for exports and imports, as well as inland logistics solutions including transportation and storage.
The company will also coordinate with port authorities and relevant customs, veterinary, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations. In its initial phase, vessels will operate through Safaga Port, with plans to gradually expand services across all Red Sea ports.
The Minister highlighted that boosting exports, accessing new markets, and expanding trade with African nations, particularly in East Africa, remain top government priorities. He added that enhancing connectivity with African countries, especially in the transport sector, is a key pillar for advancing regional integration and driving sustainable economic growth.
