Egypt Today: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said remittances from Egyptians working abroad reached a historic peak in 2025, marking the highest annual inflows on record.
According to a statement issued on Monday, total remittances climbed to about $41.5 billion, up from $29.6 billion a year earlier. This represents a 40.5% year-on-year increase, equivalent to an additional $11.9 billion.
In the first half of fiscal year 2025/2026, remittance inflows rose by 29.6% to approximately $22.1 billion, compared with $17.1 billion during the July–December 2024 period.
On a monthly basis, December 2025 recorded $4.0 billion in remittances, a 24.0% increase from $3.2 billion in December 2024, marking the highest single-month figure ever registered.
