Egypt Today: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported that the country's core inflation rate climbed to 10.4 percent in April 2025, an increase from 9.4 percent recorded in March.
According to the CBE, the monthly change in the core Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 1.2 percent in April 2025, compared to just 0.3 percent in April 2024 and 0.9 percent in the previous month.
In parallel, data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that the monthly change in the overall urban CPI reached 1.3 percent in April 2025, up from 1.1 percent in April 2024, though down from 1.6 percent in March.
On a year-on-year basis, Egypt’s headline urban inflation edged up slightly to 13.9 percent in April 2025, compared to 13.6 percent in March
