Egypt's annual core inflation falls to 6.8% in December

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's annual core inflation declined to 6.8% in December 2019, compared to 11.1% in the same period in 2018, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The general consumer price index (CPI) in Egypt recorded 104.4 points in December, down 0.2% month-on-month from its rate in November, the CAPMAS announced in a statement on Thursday.

This decrease is attributed to a decline in the price of oil and fats by 6.3%, sugary food by 6.8%, and cereals and bread by 2%, although the price of fruits as well as meat and poultry rose by 2.5% and 2.4%, respectively.
