Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt exported goods valued at $4.90 billion to the BRICS group countries in 2022, marking a 5.30% year-on-year (YoY) rise from $4.60 billion.
China and Russia were the top exporters from the group to the African country with a value of $14.40 billion and $4.10 billion, respectively.
Furthermore, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) data showed that the trade exchange value between Egypt and BRICS group reached $31.20 billion in 2022, an annual increase of 10.50% from $28.30 billion.
Imports
The Egyptian imports from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa hit $26.40 billion last year, up 11.50% from $23.60 billion in 2021.
India ranked first among the BRICS group importing Egyptian goods in 2022 with a value of $1.90 billion, followed by China at $1.80 billion and Russia at $595.10 million.
Investments
During fiscal year (FY) 2021/2022, the BRICS countries pumped investments amounting to $891.20 million in Egypt, an annual hike of 45.90% from $610.90 million.
China topped the investing countries of the BRICS group in Egypt with $369.40 million, followed by India with $266.10 million and South Africa with $220.30 million.
Remittances
The value of remittances of Egyptians working in the BRICS countries stood at $84.70 million in FY21/22, a leap of 102.50% from $41.80 million in FY20/21.
Meanwhile, the remittances of workers from the BRICS countries in the Arab Republic declined by 8.70% YoY to $49.70 million in FY21/22 from $54.50 million.
