Egypt's food exports to UK hit GBP 27.5m in 2021

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's food industry exports to the UK rose by 14.50% to GBP 27.50 million in 2021, compared to GBP 24 million in 2020, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

This announcement was made during a symposium, organised by the Export Council for Food Industries in cooperation with the Trade Representation Authority.

The volume of food industry trade between the two countries reached GBP 69.50 million last year, up 11.20% from GBP 62.50 million in 2020.

The country recorded a 13.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its imports from the UK to GBP 42 million last year from GBP 37 million in 2020.

Meanwhile, the UK's total food industry imports retreated by 6% to GBP 32.20 million last year from GBP 33.20 million in 2020, with the European Union (EU) accounting for 75% of these imports.
