Egypt's headline inflation rises 1.2% in April – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's headline inflation rate accelerated by 1.2% month-on-month (MoM) to 112.2 points in April from 110.9 in March. 

The rise in inflation rate was ascribed to higher prices of vegetables by 9.8%, meat and poultry by 4.9%, fish and seafood by 1.3%, ready-made garments by 1.9%, and private transportation costs by 5.2%, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Monday.

Year-on-year (YoY), the most populous Arab nation’s annual inflation registered 4.4% in April, compared to 5.9% in the same month a year earlier.
