Egypt’s inflation spikes in May – CAPMAS

Cairo-Mubasher: Egypt's annual inflation rose to 13.5% in May from 11% in April, the government’s statistics body CAPMAS said on Wednesday.

The official agency said the country’s monthly inflation increased by 1.3% in May, as vegetable prices rose by 7.7%, meat and chicken (+2.7%), water (+2.2%) and vehicles (+1.5%).   

 In April, the annual inflation declined to 11% compared to 11.8% a month earlier.
