Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s non-petroleum exports to the US rose by 17.5% in the first 11 months of 2017, trade minister Tarek Kabil said in a statement on Tuesday.
Exports stood at $1.346 billion in the 11-month period of 2017, compared to $1.145 billion in the corresponding period of 2016, Kabil added.
Non-oil exports account for 90% of Egypt’s total exports to the US, the minister highlighted.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian exports in term of the generalized system of preferences (GSP) surged by 18.3% to $81.2 million from $68.6 million.
Furthermore, exports of qualifying industrial zones (QIZ) increased by 2% to $697 million from $683 million.
Moreover, head of the Egyptian Commercial Service Office (ECS) Ahmed Antar said that Egypt’s exports of textiles and ready-made clothes reached $832 million in the 11-month period of 2017.
Antar also noted that iron and steel export amounted to $95.5 million, while fertilisers’ exports totalled $79.4 million.
