Riyadh – Mubasher: Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, met with Sheikh Tareq Abdel Hadi Al Qahtani, Chairman of Abdel Hadi A. Al Qahtani & Sons Group of Companies (AHQ), during the In-Kingdom Total Value Add (iktva) Forum and Exhibition 2025 in Saudi Arabia.
The two sides shed light on enhancing joint cooperation and discussed ways to increase investment and open new markets in the African continent, according to Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) portal.
Meanwhile, the meeting was held in the presence of Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Ministerial Affairs and the Technical Office and the Petroleum Ministry's Spokesperson.
This meeting comes as a continuation of discussions held in recent months, where both parties emphasised the importance of cooperation in the mining sector, in line with the significant development in Egypt, alongside collaboration with Egyptian companies in the energy field.
Following the discussions, Badawi attended the signing ceremony of two framework agreements concerning cooperation between AHQ and several companies in the Egyptian petroleum sector, represented by Tanmia Petroleum, the Engineering for the Petroleum and Petrochemical Industries Company (Enppi), and the Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet).
The agreements aim to form a strategic alliance and commercial cooperation in addition to collaboration throughout the Middle East and Africa to develop engineering, supply, and construction projects in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and industry in general.
It is worth mentioning that Badawi is partaking in the fourth edition of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF), which will conclude on 16 January 2025. The minister met with Bandar Alkhorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, where they both reviewed Egypt’s initiatives to conduct develop mineral exploration and operations.
