Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt is currently seeking to directly import oil from Iraq, the Egyptian oil minister told reporters on Thursday on the sidelines of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) conference in Cairo.

Tarek El Mola added that Egypt is currently buying Iraqi oil from international markets, but they are currently seeking a direct contract.

In his answer to a question from Mubasher, the minister said that the deal is expected to be agreed in the first quarter of 2017.

He also indicated that the imported amount will range between 1 and 2 million barrels of Iraqi Basrah light crude oil.
