Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Fertiglobe completed the first shipment of the world’s first globally recognised renewable ammonia with International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS) certification.
The ADX-listed firm underlined that the renewable ammonia was produced at its facilities in Egypt using renewable hydrogen from its pilot Egypt Green Hydrogen electrolyzer, according to a press release.
This aligns with Fertiglobe’s commitment to decarbonising industries, delivering on its sustainability agenda, and supporting the global energy transition.
The shipment was sent to Tuticorin Alkali Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited (TFL), which will produce the soda ash for Unilever’s India business, Hindustan Unilever (HUL).
Ahmed El Hoshy, CEO of Fertiglobe and OCI Global, commented: “This shipment is an important milestone for Fertiglobe, a breakthrough in producing and supplying renewable ammonia to the world, and for the ongoing execution of our hydrogen roadmap.”

Meanwhile, Fertiglobe is teaming up with Orascom Construction, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission (EETC), and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt to implement the Egypt Green Hydrogen project.
Once completed, this project will have an annual capacity to produce up to 15,000 tonnes of green hydrogen, serving as feedstock for producing up to 90,000 tpa of renewable ammonia at Fertiglobe’s facilities located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
In the first nine months (9M) of 2023, Fertiglobe recorded 76% lower net profits attributable to the owners at $254.40 million, compared to $1.07 billion in 9M-22.
