Google Pay service to launch in Saudi Arabia upon agreement with SAMA

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has entered into an agreement with Google to bring Google Pay to Saudi Arabia through the national payment system mada in 2025, according to an official statement.

The new payment service will provide an advanced and safe way for users to make secure purchases in stores and apps, and on the web.

Google Pay will also enable users to conveniently add and manage their cards within Google Wallet.

The agreement is part of SAMA's ongoing efforts to enhance the digital payments ecosystem in the Kingdom in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Furthermore, it reflects SAMA's commitment to developing a robust digital payments infrastructure for transformation into a less-cash dependent society by offering advanced digital payment solutions aligning with international standards.

The Google Pay service is part of a series of solutions that aim at meeting market needs and advancing Saudi Arabia's position as a global pioneer in fintech.

It is worth noting that the national payments scheme mada was part of Seamless Saudi Arabia which took place in the Kingdom during 22-24 October 2024.
