Mineral wealth security needed to drive global energy transition – Alkhorayef at FMF 2025

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, urged securing supply chains for critical minerals across the region spanning Africa to West and Central Asia to boost global energy transition.

During his speech at the fourth edition of the Future Mining Forum in Riyadh, Alkhorayef highlighted the disparity between this region's mineral wealth and its limited contribution to global markets.

The minister called on mineral-consuming nations to bridge this gap through targeted and constructive investments, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

He cited the Saudi Arabian Mining Company’s (Ma’aden) contributions to building infrastructure and improving the overall well-being of the region’s residents.

On the sidelines of the forum, Alkhorayef indicated that the mining sector led the fastest-growing sectors worldwide, with mineral potential estimated at $2.50 trillion.

The event witnessed the signing of non-binding heads of terms between Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) and Ma’aden to establish a mining joint venture (JV) aimed at fostering energy transition minerals in the Kingdom.
