Muscat: Muscat Insurance Company (MIC) unveiled its new global branding on Sunday as part of a bid to bring to life MIC’s role as a trusted partner to its customers.
The new branding includes an updated visual identity, logo, and tagline, and marks the most visible change to the MIC since its inception in 1995.
The insurance company prides itself on being one of the largest providers of commercial and personal insurance products in Oman.
“It was time for a change,” said MIC CEO Philip K. Philip. “Now, over two decades later, being friendly and approachable isn’t enough.”
“What consumers are looking for from a company like ours is a partnership that positively impacts our customers' lives and the communities we serve,” he added. “By doing so, our goal is to become one of the region’s leading insurance companies.”
The new branding push is the first comprehensive re-branding for MIC since 1995.
“Our new brand reflects our company’s transformation and differentiates us in the marketplace, ultimately driving greater value for our customers and shareholders,” said Philip.
MIC has also adopted a new slogan, “Like A Brother.”
The brand’s unveiling took place on Sunday at The Kempinski Oman, Al Mouj, under the auspices of Yahya Bin Saeed Bin Abdullah Al Jabri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Capital Market Authority (CMA), and in the presence of the chief guest, MIC Chairman Sheikh Aimen Ahmed Sultan Al Hosni, as well as members of the Board of Directors, management, staff, and media. The new branding was unveiled through a display that featured light shows and was followed by a gala dinner.
Al Hosni said the re-branding initiative was an exercise in self-improvement.
“We are trying to come out and be better, and to provide better services,” he said. “We are also trying to go beyond the borders of Oman, so we’re trying to be a regional player.”
Possible expansion?
Philip said that the focus would first be on expanding into countries within the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), adding that the plan was still in the pipeline.
“We’ll consider expanding within the GCC countries first,” he explained. “Of course, one must adhere to the regulations in these nations. Apart from this, insurance growth in the health sector is encouraging.”
Management system, website get revamped
Two other major announcements were made at the event—the inauguration of the new Comprehensive Insurance Management System and the launch of a new and updated website.
“This is the first time we have made any changes to our Insurance Management System,” revealed Philip. “We decided to move to a new advanced, faster system altogether, as it is important to keep up with technology.”
“We also proudly present to everyone our new website,” he remarked. “It has been designed carefully keeping in mind user experience and feel. It is now much faster and more advanced. We plan to offer a branch-like experience to our customers and extend our services to our clients in Oman and across the region.”
