Cairo – Mubasher: Chairman of Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) said that what OAPEC did ignoring Libya's nominee is "sad."
Mustafa Sanalla added, on sidelines of Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries' (OAPEC) meeting on Thursday in Cairo, that it is clear that there was a previous agreement to extend for the current secretary general.
Libya's representative withdrew from the OAPEC meeting today, in protest of not nominating his country’s representative as Secretary General for the organisation, according to an official at the conference.
The nomination of Libya’s representative was rejected on the sidelines, and Kuwait’s Abbas Naqi was once again elected as secretary general.
OAPEC consists of ten Arab countries, namely: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, Libya, Algeria, Bahrain and Syria.
Sanalla responded questions about the probability that Libya would withdraw from the organization, saying that the issue will be studied and the best will be decided.
NOC chairman refused to meet the Egyptian Prime Minister, Sherief Ismail, saying that "We might meet him in a private meeting."
