Muscat Securities Market-listed Oman Cement Company (OCC) has opened an engineering, procurement and construction contract (EPC) to establish a cement factory in Duqm, Oman, which will be operated by the firm’s subsidiary AlSahawa Cement Company.
In a stock market filing undersigned by OCC’s chief executive officer, Salim Abdullah Al Hajiri, the company said that the plant will have a capacity of 5,000 tonnes per day.
The firm said that the project will be implemented as a “backward integration mode” where cement will be initially produced by AlSahawa Cement Company and its cement would be available to the market by September 2021.
Oman Cement Company added that work on its clinker and cement production units will be commissioned by March 2022.
