Plastic Bank appoints Abdelaleem as Regional Head

Mubasher: Plastic Bank has appointed Ahmed Ahmed Abdelaleem as the new Regional Head for Europe as well as the Middle East and Africa (MEA) to bring more than 15 years of experience in supply chain and sourcing activities.

The new regional head will continue building a circular economy while supporting the overall corporate strategy of Plastic Bank, according to a press release.

Abdelaleem is expected to empower communities and enable them to exchange waste for money, goods, or services.

He first joined Plastic Bank in January 2021 as a Supply Chain and Operations Manager. Earlier, Abdelaleem worked as an Alternative Fuel Sourcing Manager with GeoCycle Egypt, a subsidiary of Lafarge Holcim.

“One of his most notable projects was the rice straw project, which incinerated rice straw in cement kilns instead of burning it in open fields. This project saved over 100,000 tons of CO₂ emissions per year and improved air quality for millions of people,” according to the press release.

In mid-2022, Plastic Bank Social Enterprise partnered with Lorenz Snack World – Egypt to reduce plastic waste and prevent it from reaching seas and rivers.

Meanwhile in 2021, Plastic Bank announced the establishment of 11 collection centres across Egypt throughout that year, where about 2,700 tonnes of plastic waste were gathered.
