Cairo – Mubasher: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the European Union (EU), the Embassy of Denmark, the Embassy of Switzerland, and the African Climate Foundation (ACF) signed a contract of $6.20 million for a new project to support Egypt’s presidency of the 27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), Akhbar El-Yom reported.
The Arab world’s most populous nation is set to host COP27 during the period from 7 to 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh.
This project will aid Egypt’s COP27 presidency in its efforts to implement Paris Agreement on Climate Change’s decisions through activities in several priority areas such as renewable energy, climate change adaptation, and climate security.
COP27 is the world’s largest conference tackling climate change. It brings together partners from the public and private sectors, civil society, and academia.
It aims to strengthen climate action and promote the efforts of Egypt’s COP27 presidency team in organising and hosting the keynote event.
