Mubasher: Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Company on Thursday announced the official opening of a drinking water plant in Qatar.
The plant, which belongs to Qatar General Insurance’s subsidiary General Company For Water and Beverages W.L.L., will produce pure drinking water under the trademark “Al Rawda.”
During the inauguration ceremony, General Company For Water and Beverages W.L.L. signed a partnership agreement with philanthropic organisation the Qatar Red Crescent, the insurance firm said in a statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE).
The agreement comes as part of Qatar General Group’s initiatives and commitment towards supporting and reinforcing its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
General Company For Water and Beverages W.L.L. is 60%-owned by Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Company and 40% owned by Al-Sari Trading Co.
The Qatar-listed insurance firm last reported turning a profit of QAR 16.7 million in the third quarter of 2018 versus a loss of QAR 4.4 million in the prior-year period, while for the first nine months of 2018, the company logged QAR 70.76 million in profits, up 100.6% year-on-year from QAR 35.28 million.
