Sipchem completes ethylene cracker expansion, commences trial production

Riyadh – Mubasher: Sahara International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) announced the successful completion of construction and the commencement of trial production for the expansion of the ethylene cracker plant at the Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company (SEPC).

The project is a joint venture (JV) under National Industrialization Company (Tasnee) and Sahara Olefins Company, in which Sipchem holds a 32.55% ownership stake.

The start of trial operations follows the initial project announcement made on 24 December 2023.

Sipchem confirmed that the construction phase reached a safe conclusion, allowing the facility to begin the testing phase required for full commercial operations.

Regarding the financial implications of the expansion, the company stated that the relevant financial impact is expected to be reflected in its consolidated financial results starting from the third quarter (Q3) of 2026.

This development marks a significant milestone for the joint venture as it seeks to increase production capacity at the facility.
