Tabreed cuts carbon emissions by 1.5m tonnes in 2023

Dubai – Mubasher: National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) has reduced its energy use by 2.52 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2023.

Tabreed slashed CO2 emissions by 1.50 million metric tonnes, equivalent to powering 143,000 homes, according to the company’s fourth environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report for 2023.

The company purchased 116,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of solar-sourced clean energy certificates from the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), enough to cool prominent areas.

Khalid Al Marzooqi, CEO of Tabreed, said: “In short, this incredible, visionary company spent 2023 reaffirming its reputation as an undeniable force for good. Good for our customers, our investors, our staff, our communities, and our environment.”

It is noteworthy that Tabreed’s net profit recorded AED 112.13 million in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024.
