Dubai – Mubasher: National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) will explore developing and investing in Hyderabad’s district cooling infrastructure in India upon a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the regional Indian Government of Telangana.
The district cooling infrastructure aims at eliminating more than 200-megawatt (MW) of peak electricity demand resulting in an annual CO2 emissions prevention of 600,000 tonnes; this could be equivalent to 18 million tonnes over 30 years.
It is worth noting that district cooling agreements are part of Telangana’s vision to become net-zero by 2047, while India is expected to be the world’s largest consumer of cooling by 2050, according to a press release.
The MoU was signed in Dubai in the presence of Khalid CEO of Tabreed, Al Marzooqi; Telangana Minister for Information Technology and Industries, K.T. Rama Rao; as well as Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary, IT, and Industries, Telangana, alongside other representatives.
During the first half (H1) of 2023, Tabreed achieved AED 386.39 million in net profit attributable to the owners.
