Trade Ministry says Egypt non-oil exports exceed $32B in 2021

Egypt's non-petroleum exports have increased by 26 percent reaching $32.128 billion in 2021 up from $25.427 billion in 2020, the Trade and Industry Ministry said Wednesday.

A Ministry statement pointed to an increase in Egypt's exports to the EU countries during 2021, putting the total value at about $9.153 billion compared with $5.881 billion in the year before, i.e. a 56-percent rise.

US imports from Egypt also upped by 51 percent from $1.618 billion in 2020 to $2.446 billion last year, read the statement.

Egyptian exports to Africa, excluding Arab states, also rose by 28 percent reaching $1.853 billion in 2021 compared with $1.445 billion in 2020, it added.

According to the Ministry, the US was the biggest importer of Egyptian commodities in 2021 at $2.446 billion, followed by Saudi Arabia at $1.995 billion, Italy at $1.852 billion, the UAE at $1.196 billion, Malta at $1.159 billion, Spain by $1.156 billion, the UK and Ireland at $1.079 billion, Libya at $938 million and Canada at $823 million.
