UAE central bank's foreign assets cross AED 592bn in June

UAE – Mubasher: The total foreign assets of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) increased to AED 592.11 billion during June 2023 from AED 590.19 in May this year.

The foreign assets exclude CBUAE's reserve tranche position (RTP) and SDR Holdings with the international monetary fund (IMF), according to the WAM news agency.

Month on month (MoM), the UAE's current account balances and deposits with lenders abroad hit AED 363.23 billion in June 2023, versus AED 361.78 billion in May.

The foreign securities dropped to AED 165.42 billion in June 2023 from AED 171.03 billion during the same reference period, while other foreign assets climbed to AED 63.46 billion from AED 57.38 in May.

Meanwhile, the monetary base grew by 0.10% to AED 622.20 billion as of June 2023 from AED 621.40 billion at the end of May 2023.

Gross banks’ assets, including bankers’ acceptances, amounted to AED 3.87 trillion last June, up 0.10% from AED 3.86 trillion in May.

MoM, the total bank deposits went down by 1% to AED 2.38 trillion at the end of June 2023 from AED 2.40 trillion. The decline was attributed to an 11.80% reduction in non-resident deposits, which overshadowed the 0.20% rise in resident deposits.
