Mubasher: Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has welcomed the startup of Aluminium Bahrain’s (Alba) new Potline 6, which has been built using EGA’s UAE-developed technology, according to a recent press release.
“EGA became the first UAE industrial company to license its core process technology internationally when the company signed a technology licensing agreement in 2016 with Aluminium Bahrain for the new potline,” the press release added.
“Licensing EGA’s home-grown industrial technology in such a major project internationally is an important milestone in the development of a knowledge-based economy in line with ‘UAE Vision 2021’,” managing director and CEO of EGA Abdulla Kalban said.
Alba’s Potline 6 is expected to endorse the annual production of the company by 540,000 tonnes, bringing its total production capacity to 1.5 million tonnes per year.
“Potline 6 is a transformational project for Alba as it will top our production capacity by more than 50%, thus making us the largest smelter in the world,” the CEO of Alba, Tim Murray, commented.
