Wizz Air Abu Dhabi registers growth in airline operations during 2024

UAE – Mubasher: Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a joint venture (JV) established between ADQ and Wizz Air Holdings PLC, posted a 20% rise year-on-year (YoY) in seat capacity and the number of passengers carried.

The airline registered 19,000 flights at a completion rate of 99.80% in 2024, unlocking more than 4.40 million ultra-low-seats, and carrying more than 3.50 million point-to-point passengers, according to a press release.

This contributes to Zayed International Airport’s point-to-point traffic by 25%.

Last year, Wizz Air carried more than 1.20 million international visitors to Abu Dhabi, playing an effective role in supporting the sustainable growth of the Emirate’s tourism sector.

The airline backs Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, which seeks to boost visitor numbers to 39.30 million and increase the sector's gross domestic product (GDP) contribution to AED 90 billion by 2030.

During the first half (H1) of 2024, hotels in Abu Dhabi welcomed more than 2.87 million guests, generating AED 3.60 billion which represents a 19.50% YoY increase.

Wizz Air currently connects the UAE capital to over 30 destinations, flying to vibrant cities and hidden gems across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
